Recylex S.A. and Harz-Metall GmbH are providing a communication kit to all their collection partners in Europe to improve the “correct sorting” of the scrap batteries they collect.
With the emergence of new battery, cell and accumulator types and technologies, the Recylex group is reaching out to its partners to strive for even more environmentally responsible and effective recycling. This communication kit aimed primarily at sorting and collection operators helps them to better identify the various battery technologies so they can be directed more efficiently to the right approved treatment channel.
To recap, Recylex S.A. in France and Harz-Metall GmbH in Germany only recycle scrap lead batteries. Effective upstream sorting means that only appropriate materials are sent to each treatment channel, which is crucial for regulatory purposes, for environmental protection and also for the safety of teams.
Baptiste Planckaert, Recylex S.A.’s Head of Sales, and Michael Kedwesch, Harz-Metall GmbH’s Head of Sales, commented:
“It’s vital that all cell and accumulator technologies should co-exist responsibly. That means we need to have clearly identified recycling channels that are properly coordinated at the key collection and sorting stages. As things stand, that’s still a challenge because it is sometimes hard for certain collectors to identify and sort batteries for recycling effectively. Effective sorting means that waste flows can be directed efficiently to each approved treatment process. That’s why the Recylex group is launching this campaign and making this instructive, simple and practical tool available to its partners. By working together, we will be able to enhance the effectiveness of the circular economy.”
