Proud of its roots in the Hauts de France region, Recytech S.A. is a major player in the treatment, recycling and recovery of industrial waste containing zinc. Recytech produces a zinc “concentrate”, called Waelz Oxides, which is used as a secondary raw material by zinc metal producers.
Established in 1991 and ISO 14001:2015 certified, Recytech is 50% owned by Recylex S.A. and 50% owned by the Spanish company Befesa.
The Recytech process recycles electric arc furnace dusts and zinc residues to extract zinc. The Waelz process consists in separating the zinc from the other elements contained in these residues by pyrometallurgy at more than 1200 ° C, thanks to its rotary kiln of 50 m long operating in continuous fire. In this context, Recytech is an essential link in the circular economy of zinc and can be considered as an urban mine allowing the saving of natural resources on metals sometimes in tension. Recytech's operations are therefore fully in line with current policies and regulations around the circular economy, the energy transition and green growth.
