Weser-Metall GmbH produces approximately 105,000 tons of lead annually, making it the third largest lead smelter in Europe and the second largest lead recycler.
Our input consists of approximately 70% lead secondary raw materials (from car battery recycling carried out by the Group) and 30 % lead primary raw materials.
In addition to our standardized production (99.985% pure lead ingots), we also produce special lead alloys according to the individual customer requirements. Our lead ingots are mainly used in the manufacturing of starter batteries for the automotive industry and for technical industrial applications.
o Purity: max 99,985%

As a key player in the European lead circular economy, numerous secondary raw materials from battery recycling, play a central role in our production process. Lead concentrates account for up to 30% of our input, and their natural sulfur content significantly reduces the need for fossil fuels.
The bath smelting furnace process, with its lancing technology and subsequent refinement, enables the environmentally friendly and efficient use of primary and secondary materials. This modern process is both energy-efficient and cost-effective.
The smelter in Nordenham has an ideal logistics location at the mouth of the Weser. This advantage enables us to use multimodal logistics both for our input flows and also for the delivery of our products to our customers.
REACH Regulation (EG) No. 1907/2006: Weser-Metall GmbH has registered the following materials before 01.12.2010: lead (EINECS 231-100-4, CAS 7439-92-1), silver (EINECS 231-131-3, CAS 7440-22-4), sulfuric acid (EINECS 231-639-5, CAS 7664-93-9). If you have any questions, please contact REACH-GHS@recylex.de.
In combination with our new reduction furnace, which started operation in 2018, our bath smelting furnace can process a wide range of secondary raw materials, which can increase our use of secondary materials by up to 80%.
This process produces a low ecological footprint and has a low energy consumption. It enables the treatment of very complex materials such as silver and sulfates.
This makes us to one of the most advanced recycling companies in the lead sector.
Our corporate philosophy includes a commitment to the quality of our products to meet the needs of our customers and full compliance with the safety and environmental regulations of our team. We are also committed to training young people, as we are particularly committed to our local and regional roots (see our job opportunities on the Group’s Careers page).
In accordance with the Recylex Group's Sustainable Performance Charter, our QHSE policy is designed to meet the legal requirements associated with our activities, to protect the health of the personnel working at our sites; to protect the environment and ensure the safety of our activities.
