Prime Minister Stephan Weil visited employees and apprentices at Weser-Metall GmbH in Nordenham
On June 5th 2019, Stephan Weil, Prime Minister of Lower-Saxony, got informed about the situation of apprentices and employees at WMG in Nordenham. For around an hour, he interacted with employees, apprentices and the management at the Nordenham site.
The Prime Minister showed interest in listening the concerns of the workforce and the progress of the reorganization of the Recylex Group in Germany. Stephan Weil stressed after the meeting the importance of the recycling industry in Lower Saxony: “Weser-Metall in Nordenham is one of the most important employers in the Lower Weser. If we want to take the issue of climate and environmental protection seriously, then we must step up our commitment to a successful circular economy. This also includes more investment in training apprentices and also employees, both exemplary implemented and a common practice in Weser-Metall.”
The Prime Minister attached particular importance to the exchange with younger employees and apprentices in the company. He visited the training workshop and visited the furnaces for lead production. Inquired about the state of improvements in the operation of the main furnace, the so-called Bath Smelting Furnace (BSF), Recylex CEO Sebastian Rudow reported on first progresses: “Our technical optimization measures are taking shape gradually. We still have a long and a challenging way to go, but I am confident we will achieve our goals.”
Education is a priority for WMG
As WMG feels particularly fond of its roots in Nordenham, Sebastian Rudow, Recylex CEO, once again emphasized the importance of training for the company: “Weser-Metall in Nordenham is a major employer in the Lower Weser region. The protection of the climate and the environment is necessarily based on a prosperous circular economy. The investment in apprentices and employees training is exemplary at Weser-Metall.”
Committed to the environment: processing and recycling raw materials has a future

Sebastian Rudow concluded: “Our product quality, the satisfaction of our employees and a sustainable environmental strategy are solid pillars of our reorganization concept.
